Bringing pop-punk back to the Midlands, newcomers Like Giants have announced their debut EP ‘Sovereign’, which is due for release on the 27th September 2019. Recorded with esteemed producer Matt O’Grady (who’s had a role in the making of quite a few of our favourite debuts from the likes of You Me At Six, Deaf Havana and Don Broco), the EP will be an honest opening salvo for the band.

Frontman Daniel Kai comments on the EP: “We wanted to create something that infused elements of bands that we have all separately taken influence from, with heavy breakdowns that will excite fans of heavier music, but the jumpy pop punk rhythms and melodies that will excite fans of bands like ‘Neck Deep’, ‘State Champs’ and the like, with lyrics that everyone who listens can relate to, talking about issues that most people will experience in their day to day lives.”

If that announcement wasn’t enough, they’ve also released the EP’s first single ‘Cut and Run’. Tackling that ever-important subject of anxiety and depression, the band bring their message forward with some of the finest pop-punk we’ve heard in a while.

Daniel spoke about the single, commenting: “Cut and Run is primarily about depression and anxiety. Each one of us have suffered at the hands of both of these afflictions, through relationship breakdowns and general day to day problems. We wanted to write a track that reflected the struggle that both the rich and the poor go through, no matter your background or wealth, showing that both depression and anxiety can sneak up to anyone”
