Adrenaline pumping & heavy sounding are some of the words to describe Lower Than Atlantis’s show at the o2 Academy in Birmingham. It was the bands second night of the ‘Safe in Sound’ tour, that coincides with their 5th studio album ‘Safe in Sound.’
Firstly congratulations to the opening acts on getting audiences pumped & ready for an awesome night of music. ROAM opened the show first & kicked the show off to a great start. The Pop-Punk band hyped the audience to what we could expect to be a great night of music.
Following on from ROAM was Australian rock band Hand Like Houses. The 5 piece band put on an exciting show, that while short with 6 songs being played was one that followed on from the previous band to hype the crowd & deliver a performance people won’t forget.
The third & final support act & one that I was so excited to see was Young Guns. The British rockers who have been making a name for themselves these last few years, played a variety of newer songs from the new record ‘Echoes’ & older records like ‘Bones’. So overall a great performance from an amazing band.
After waiting half an hour, the lights go dark and the main event began. The different members of Lower Than Atlantis came on, wowing the audience with an awesome 15 song setlist! Opening with two new songs from their new record, one of the songs ‘Had Enough’ is hailed by frontman Mike Duce as “The best Lower Than Atlantis song he has ever written”. The performance ended the show on a high & one I won’t be forgetting anytime soon.
Overall, Lower Than Atlantis & co delivered on what was an amazing night, filled with amazing music & a night I won’t be forgetting anytime soon. Until we see the lads next time, where I like to think they will be playing at venues like Birmingham’s Genting Arena to an amazing crowd that we witnessed on that night in the o2 Academy.
