21 Taras are a Denver based five piece rock band deriding influence from the 60s and 70s who strive to send the listener on a journey through the best musical periods of the past and the present. They have recently put out new album ‘Change‘ and with plans to tour this year, it is currently an exciting time for the group, who BG spoke to about what exactly makes them who they are:
What is 21 Taras all about?
21 Taras is all about pushing our capabilities as performers and song writers. We are always trying to implement new things, as we get bored rather quickly. With each new release we try to bring something new to the table that has not been heard from us before.
Who would you say are your biggest musical influences?
The Beatles, Queen, Led Zeppelin, The Beach Boys and The Zombies to name a few.
What inspired you to start making music?
Making music has always been very natural for me. It is sort of an escape as well, but the music makes me feel part of something. I hope we can enable others to do the same when they listen to what we are doing.
Tell us about the latest project?
Our newest album ‘Change‘ marked a new process for us as far as writing goes and really the whole band dynamic shifted. Having a recording studio at our disposal has led to a more experimental approach.
It led us to try some things that we may have never attempted in the past. The new record is very 60s and 70s rock influenced as well as some 50s blues and jazz. It also has some soul and country sprinkled in. I really think we did a great job at keeping things interesting for the listener and really masking the whole album a listening experience. We are very proud of it and are excited to show everyone what we have coming.
