Bristol’s premier alternative metal festival ArcTanGent has announced the first wave of acts for its sixth edition, taking place at Fernhill Farm during the 16th-18th August 2018.

Opening up the Main Stage on the Thursday for the first time in its history, ArcTanGent have announced that Northern Ireland’s finest instrumental-rock exports ‘And So I Watch You From Afar’ will headline the Thursday night, performing 2017’s ‘The Endless Shimmering’ in its entirety. Joining them on the stage that day will be the stunning Pianos Become The Teeth and post-rock prodigies Foxing.

Commenting on the announcement, ASIWYFA’s Rory Friers said:

“Every year ArcTanGent makes a home for strange bands like us, our peers around the world and the amazing people who make it such a special scene to be a part of.  We feel very lucky to be a part of that family, and to be headlining a night is something very very special for us”

If that wasn’t enough, they’ve only gone and announced seminal pioneering math-rockers Giraffes? Giraffes! who’ll be playing their first ever European show, as well as it being a UK festival exclusive.

Even more exciting is the announcement that two of the UK’s finest indie labels – Holy Roar and Big Scary Monsters – will do battle on the Thursday as they host their bands across the PX3 and Yohkai stages respectively.

It seems the war of words have already started between the two, with Holy Roar’s founder Alex commenting:

“Kev recently threatened to stab me in the eye with a fork because I asked him to share. Kev is mean. Mean Kev. Revenge will be sweet come ArcTanGent though – when Holy Roar will do battle with BSM across two stages on the Thursday of the festival. It’s going to be epic and we are hugely excited to be given such a special opportunity by our friends at ATG”

BSM’s Kevin responded:

“We’ve been at every single ArcTanGent and it’s always one of the best weekend’s of the year. This is the first time we’re putting our name to a stage though and the only shame is that we have to share it with Holy Roar.”

Other bands announced for the festival so far are as follows: Alpha Male Tea Party /Rolo Tomassi/ Jamie Lenman/ Gallops/ Talons/ Bossk/ Svalbard / Gulfer / Body Hound/ GUG.
