Every year, during the second weekend of August, hordes of heavy metal fans descend upon Derbyshire’s Catton Park for the all-screaming, all-moshing festivities that are Bloodstock Open Air.
Year after year the festival curates an army-like line-up of metal luminaries past and present from all corners of the extreme metal canon, whether you’re into mind-shredding solos a la power metal or prefer your metal a shade darker or two in the shape of black metal.
Having previously announced Friday night headliners, JUDAS PRIEST, Saturday headliners, GOJIRA and Sunday’s bill toppers, NIGHTWISH, as well as EMPEROR, AT THE GATES, DEVILDRIVER, WATAIN, SUICIDAL TENDENCIES, WEDNESDAY 13, JASTA & FRIENDS, FOZZY, COMBICHRIST, BLOODBATH, VENOM INC., MR BIG, ORPHANED LAND, KAMELOT, DORO, ORDEN OGAN, SEPTICFLESH, EXHORDER, VOLA and MEMORIAM, 2018 is shaping up to be a monumental year.
Today, they’ve gone announced even more acts for the extreme extravaganza.
Triple-vocal death-meets-power-metal masters AMARANTHE will take on the Ronnie James Dio stage on the sunday. Taking on the Sophie Lancaster stage will be Mancunian bruisers INGESTED, hybrid industrial-groove nuts MORTISHEAD, Irish trio DEAD LABEL, Australia’s prog heroes VOYAGER, brutal German duo MANTAR, Brighton’s Thrash beasts KING LEVIATHAN, and supergroup ACT OF DEFIANCE, featuring ex-members of MEGADETH, SHADOWS FALL, and SCAR THE MARTYR.
Bloodstock takes place at Catton Park on the 9th-12th August 2018.
