Ahead of the expected release of fourth album ‘Little Dark Age’ this February, MGMT today (05/01/2018) dropped their latest single, ‘Hand It Over’, a woozy, psychedelic trip in to the minds of Ben Goldwasser and Andrew VanWyngarden. It meanders through a heavily laden synth jam, reminiscent of tracks from the latest Tame Impala record, and makes you feel as if you’re walking through a hazy cloud of sweet smelling perfumes. It comes as no surprise to hear then that in a recent interview with Q Magazine the band revealed that the track ‘James’, which appears on their next album, was written and recorded after they and their producer had taken acid.

The release of ‘Hand It Over’ follows two other singles from their upcoming album; the title track ‘Little Dark Age’, which was dropped on 17/10/2017, and the morbidly titled ‘When You Die’ on 12/12/2017.

With collaborations with Ariel Pink and Conan Mockasin confirmed, plus rumours of an appearance from Mac DeMarco as well, ‘Little Dark Age’ may well be the experimental, psychedelic tour-de-force MGMT have always threatened to produce. We can’t wait!
