Grammy-nominated producer and singer-songwriter Dan Lancaster has released his debut solo single Move A Mountain, via Raw Kingdom/AWAL/Kobalt, that’ll be part of his as-of-yet debut EP arriving later this year.
Taking pop into a technical dimension, powerhouse vocals are laid across intricate guitar lines and a sound pop hasn’t heard yet, Move A Mountain is a brave start for the singer-songwriter. Commenting on its themes, Dan said:
“The song is about trying to remove thoughts from your head but ultimately having little control over it and the frustration with that. Despite the song coming from a darker place, it was a cathartic release writing it.”
Dan has spent the last two years writing, producing and mixing 8 Radio 1 A-Listed records, working with Blink 182, Good Charlotte, 5 Seconds Of Summer and Bring Me The Horizon, as well as Fickle Friends, One OK Rock, Don Broco and Lower Than Atlantis.
Speaking on switching it up and releasing music himself, he commented:
“I produce a lot for other artists, and you get to express yourself that but only up to a point. I’ve always wanted to put something of my own out when the timing was right. I’d been writing in between projects and started to upload little clips to my Instagram, but the turning point was when I wrote ‘move a mountain’ – then it felt like the start of something and the benchmark for everything to follow”
If you like what you hear, October 16th will see Dan perform his debut show at London’s Oslo, Hackney.
