Yesterday (30/01/2018), Duncan Jones finally announced the release of the trailer for his long-awaited sci-fi project Mute via his Twitter account. In the announcement, Jones commented that he has “… a love hate relationship with trailers. I would rather people go in to a movie knowing nothing about it, but that’s a bit old fashioned… For all you youngsters & hipsters, here’s the trailer for Mute.”
Set in Berlin in the year 2052, and starring Alexander Skarsgård, Paul Rudd, Justin Theroux, and Seyneb Saleh, Mute follows bartender Leo Beiler who is in search of his missing girlfriend, with the only two recurring clues being a pair of American surgeons.
Jones, who’s previous work includes Source Code and Warcraft: The Beginning, has previously stated that Mute is very much the spiritual sequel to his 2009 sci-fi Moon. Photos released earlier this month by Netflix suggest an atmosphere more akin to Source Code however, with a stunning, futuristic, dystopian panoramic which recalls other classic sci-fi films such as the 1982 Ridley Scott film Blade Runner.
The film will begin streaming on Netflix on 23/02/2018.
